Rs 18 lakh bank fraud detected

A fraud of Rs 18 lakh was detected in the Dumdum Cantonment branch of a nationalised bank, the police said today.

A customer of the bank, headquartered at Kolkata, found on November 11 that Rs 18 lakh was withdrawn by someone using a cheque, DCDD of Barrackpore Commissionerate, Ajay Thakur, said.

After he complained the matter to the branch at Dumdum Cantonment in North 24 Parganas district, the police were informed.

The police started an investigation, Thakur said.
