A 25-year-old man was killed and another injured in a clash at a marriage function at Butter Kalan village in the district today, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Amninder Singh while one Karamjit Singh has been hospitalised, police said.
Sarpanch (village head) Chhinderpal Singh had fired in the air from his .315 bore rifle during the marriage function. The deceased and Karamjit had objected to the firing leading to the sarpanch firing at the two, leaving Amninder dead, police said.
A case has been registered and a hunt launched to nab the accused.
