Six arrested, 30 tons of red sanders seized

Six persons were arrested and about 30 tons of red sanders, meant to be smuggled to Kerala, were today seized from a godown near Pollachi in the district, police said.

Police raided the godown on the Pollachi-Coimbatore road on a tip off and seized the sanders, which had been brought from Andhra Pradesh.

A lorry kept for transporting the wood was also impounded.

The exact value of the seized sanders was yet to be ascertained, police said.
