The move of the Congress led UDF in Kerala to bring in restrictions on political activism in college campuses has sparked strong protest from student outfits cutting across ideological spectrum.
The Government in a submission made in the Kerala High Court had said it was planning to impose some restrictions on campus politics.
Ironically, most top leaders of Kerala including Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Defence Minister A K Antony, CPI(M) state Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and BJP state President V Muraleedharan have come through campus politics.

Cutting across political and ideological barriers, students outfits including pro-Left organisations SFI and AISF, pro-Congress KSU and Sangh Parivar's campus wing ABVP have warned they would stiffly resist the government move to impose curbs on campus activism.
The Government had submitted in the Court that it was mulling to introduce restrictions on all kinds of political activities in college campuses. It pointed that no university had recognised students' organisations such as SFI, KSU, ABVP, and AISF and they had no fundamental right to carry out their activities in colleges.
