Sugar remains down on ample stocks, weak demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Weak conditions continued as sugar millgate prices eased by another Rs 5 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today largely on mounting stocks in on persistent supplies by mills amid sporadic buying by bulk consumers.

However, sugar spot prices ruled steady on scattered demand from retailers.

Marketmen said rising stocks in the market following persistent supplies by mills mainly kept sugar millgate prices down.

They said, however, summer seasonal demand from stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream, limited the losses.
