Press Trust of India Jammu
Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance department has filed a charge sheet against a constable who is accused of demanding illegal gratification from a person in order to not implicate him in a false case, two years after the case was first registered in Samba district.

The charge sheet has been produced in the court of special judge anti-corruption court, Jammu against Ibrar Wani, the then special-grade constable of Purmandal police station in Samba in case of corruption registered against him by the State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) Jammu, an officer said.

The case was registered on April 23, 2015 on the basis of written complaint by Ram Saroop who alleged that Wani had demanded an illegal gratification of Rs 10,000 from him for not implicating him in a case which was registered on March 28, 2015 at police station Purmandal, the officer said.

The complainant paid him Rs 10,000 as illegal gratification under compulsion, the SVO officer said.

A trap was laid and Wani was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 10,000 in bribe from the complainant in presence of the independent witnesses, the officer said.
