The court was referring to reported problems of commuters and villagers around the 17 km stretch of the expressway on NH-8 which has been forcing them to approach courts for the redressal of their grievances.

"For common citizen only remedy available to them is to move the court when nobody is listening to them. Take care of public problems," a bench comprising justices D K Jain and Madan B Lokur said.

The bench made the remarks during the hearing of a petition by the NHAI challenging one of the order of the Delhi High Court against it.

Several types of problems including the inadequate facilities like subways or pedestrian bridges to cross the highway have been reported.

Agencies have said they were finding it difficult to implement lane driving on NH-8 due to the lack of requisite lane markings and private concessionaire has also been asked to maintain the streetlights on the expressway.
