A 14-year-old girl, was allegedly gangraped by three youths here, police said today.

The incident happened about three weeks ago and the girl was today sent for medical check up in Sadar Hospital in Palamau district, after her parents lodged a complaint yesterday, they said.

Three youths had forcibly taken the girl, who was alone at home on the day of incident, to an isolated building half a km away and took turns to rape her in Goindi village on May 4, said Officer-in-charge of the police station Vijay Chandra Choudhury.

After returning home, the victim had narrated the incident to her family but they preferred to keep quiet as the accused belonged to influential families of the village, he said.

The accused had even threatened the girl of dire consequences if she disclosed it to anyone, Choudhury said.

The parents of the victim, however, agreed to bring the culprits to book and registered a case under relevant section of IPC and POCSO Act, police said.

The case was registered against Bhudhu Singh, Sudhir Singh and Upendra Singh, who are at large, he said.

Confirming the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police, said a case has been registered in this regard while a hunt was on to apprehend the culprits.
