A top official of a state-run oil company has been found dead under mysterious circumstances with a vein on his wrist slit, at his official residence in Dibrugarh district of Assam.

Body of a general manager of public sector undertaking Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Ltd (BCPL), identified as Bimal Kumar (53), was found, after breaking open the locked room yesterday, a senior police officer said.

Kumar's wrist was cut while a name along with "some words" were found scribbled on the wall, he added.

"We have registered a case of unnatural death. But preliminary investigation suggests it is a case of suicide," Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Rana Bhuyan said.

"We will be able to confirm only after the postmortem report is available," he added.

Kumar, who hailed from Vadodara in Gujarat, was staying at the Bachelor Quarters inside the BCPL complex at Lepetkata in Dibrugarh.
