Two Indian-origin men have been charged with stabbing a plumber to death on a street in the west London suburb of Southall.

Both accused Gaurav Sharma, 33, and Jaswinder Singh, 27, will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court today charged with the murder of Mohamed Afzal.

The 38-year-old Afzal had been found stabbed on Trinity Road on Wednesday night. He was taken to hospital where he died and the postmortem tests gave the cause of death as stab wounds to the chest.

"We would invite anyone who was in or around Southall Broadway that evening, in the Trinity Road area, that thinks they saw or heard anything suspicious to please call our incident room," said acting Detective Chief Inspector Luke Marks of Scotland Yard, who is leading the investigation.

Afzal's sister Imrana Schneider took to Facebook to pay tribute to her brother.

"They've arrested someone. How will we ever get over this? My brother is gone. May my brother rest in peace and God give us all strength to carry on," she wrote on the social networking site.

Neighbours living and working close to the murder scene have expressed anger and are calling for more CCTV cameras covering the roads leading off Southall Broadway.
