Two-day tourism fair begins in J-K

"An amount of Rs 36 crore are being spent in Kargil district to strengthen tourism infrastructure," State Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora said after inaugurating the fair at Khari Sultanchu Sports Stadium in the town, 204 kms from here.

Jora said the purpose of organising the two-day fair was part of the efforts to attract tourists from across the country and abroad to the region.

"Such fairs will go a long way in development of tourism sector at national and international level," he said and asked the officers to give wide publicity of tourism fair being held next year in Kargil.

 

The minister also directed for making a film on the tourist spots of Kargil.

Earlier, Jora inaugurated a Tourist Facilitation Centre, constructed at a cost of Rs 5.81 crore in the district.
