Two students shot dead in dispute over ragging

Two persons were shot dead in a dispute between two groups allegedly over a ragging incident, at Dellhiwala chowk in Hathras district, police said here today.

The victims, identified as Anshul Kaushik (24) and Kaushik Chaudhary (22), students of a government polytechnic were shot dead last night, IG (STF) Sujit Pandey told reporters.

The murder is said to be fallout of a dispute between the two groups allegedly over ragging, he said, adding, five persons including a lecturer of the institute have been booked in this connection.

Recently a second year student of the institute, was ragged by his senior. A disciplinary complaint was lodged by the ragging victim's father with the lecturer but allegedly no action was taken by him, Pandey added.
 

Two of the accused including the lecturer have been arrested in the case so far, he said.
