The National Fisherfolk Forum today urged the Union Finance Minister to extend the benefits of Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) to the traditional fisherfolk so that they could have loans to build deep sea fishing vessels and also trade in seafood.
NFF Chairman M. Ilango said here today in a release that he had written to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley highlighting the announcement of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the eve of New Year that the MUDRA loan could be provided to genuine small scale entrepreneurs upto Rs two crores.
The NFF urged that necessary announcement of covering the traditional fishers under the MUDRA be made in the Central budget for 2017-2018.
