Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that his government was committed to promoting sports and helping all sportspersons in the state in every possible way.
Handing over a cheque for Rs 5 lakh to Allahabad girl Ritusha Arya, who was a member of the junior women's hockey team which recently won bronze at the Junior World Cup in Germany, Akhilesh said that her performance had brought glory to the country and to her state.
The felicitation was organised at Akhilesh's official residence here.
Thanking the CM, Ritusha said that when players are honour ed for their achievements, it encourages them to perform better.
