Upsurge in demand lifts mentha oil futures by 0.85%

Mentha oil prices rose by 0.85 per cent to Rs 1,023.80 per kg in futures market today as speculators indulged in built up fresh positions amid uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for delivery this month rose by Rs 8.70, or 0.85 per cent, to Rs 1,023.80 per kg, in a business turnover of 1,588 lots.

On similar lines, the oil for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 8.10, or 0.78 per cent, to Rs 1,035.40 per kg in 1,275 lots.

Analysts said besides pick up in demand from consuming industries in the physical market, fall in supplies from producing belts mainly attributed the rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
