A woman and her five-year-old daughter were today killed and as many others injured in a mishap on National Highway-2, police said.
Rani (24) and her daughter Komal, who were riding a motorcycle with two others, were killed on the spot in the mishap in Auraiye police station area, they said.
The incident occurred when an autorickshaw suddenly entered the highway from a side cut and to prevent a mishap the motorcycle shifted but it was crushed by an LPG tanker coming from behind, police said.
Two others on the bike were injured and rushed to a hospital, police said, adding an irate mob set the autorickshaw ablaze.
Later, police cleared the highway and arrested the tanker driver.
