Two groups of DMK workers today entered into an altercation over shouting of slogans praising former DMK minister late Veerapandi Arumugam, here.
DMK candidates, Paneerselvam, Advocate Rajendran, Gunasekaran and Ammasee along with their supporters began campaigning after garlanding the Anna statue here.
They raised slogans praising DMK chief M Karunanidhi and party Treasurer M K Stalin. At this time, some DMK workers shouted slogans praising the late Arumugam.
Following this, there was a wordy duel between the groups.
Police intervened and pacified the groups, police sources said.
