Abb To Slash Jobs In Western Europe

ABB, the Swiss-Swedish engineering group, is to shed thousands of jobs in western Europe over the next five years in a renewed drive to increase efficiency, cut costs and spread its manufacturing operations around the world.

The company hopes to create similar numbers of posts in emerging economies, including India, China and eastern Europe, to take advantage of lower labour costs and get closer to customers in local markets.
