Adi Takes Over As Godrej Group Chairman

Jamshyd Godrej has been appointed as the chairman and managing director of Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company, while Nadir Godrej has been appointed chairman of Godrej Agrovet Ltd.

Adi Godrej takes over as chairman of the group at a time when various group companies are facing troubled times. Godrej Soaps, the company that he is currently heading, is going through extensive restructuring and is now in a relatively stronger position financially than the rest.

In fact, over the last year, Godrej Soaps has taken steps to bail out its sister companies. Godrej Foods, on the other hand, has turned sick as per the definition under SICA.

 

Godrej Soaps recently announced its plan to split into two as a means to sharpen focus and enhance shareholder value. While one company will focus only on consumer products, the other will be on residual businesses like chemicals, medical diagnostics and investments in associate companies.

The companies representing the Godrej group are Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company, Godrej GE Appliances, Godrej Soaps, Godrej Foods, Godrej Agrovet, Godrej Telecom, Godrej Sara Lee, Godrej Properties and Investments, and Lawkim Ltd.
