Bjp Gearing Up For Party Chiefs Election

THE BHARATIYA Janata Party is gearing up for the election of the next party president. A two -day meeting of the party's national executive will be held here from April 8 to deliberate on organisational matters and take stock of the organisational elections which are currently under way.
A decision in this connection was taken at a meeting called by party president Kushabhau Thakre. It was attended by presidents of the BJP's State units, general secretaries in charge of the different States and election coordinators.
Former Delhi BJP president O.P.Kohli has been appointed the Returning Officer for the organisational elections, spokesman M.Venkaiah Naidu said after the meeting that reviewed the progress of the ongoing membership drive in the run-up to the party polls.

The organisational elections are scheduled to be completed by May end, Mr Naidu said.
All the States, barring Bihar, Orissa, Haryana and Manipur where Assembly elections were held recently, have completed the membership drive and were all set for the organisational elections, the spokesman said.
The party has also been decided to organise a public rally on April 17 in Delhi to counter the Oppositionls disinformation campaignregarding the proposed review of the Constitution. The rally will be addressed by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
