Steady trading conditions were seen on the Calcutta stock exchange (CSE) yesterday, although higher levels encountered profit-taking which wiped out early gains.
The ITC scrip saw sustained support to close at Rs 582.70 after touching Rs 584.80. In most scrips gains were not held because of profit-taking at higher levels. The turnover was moderate and undertone steady. Brokers said the volume of business was lower because of the `Bangla bandh. The CSE-50 share index closed at 95.80 points, gaining marginally by 0.74 points.
