Eicher H1 Sales Up 24%

The sales of Eicher Motors light commercial vehicles (LCVs) increased to 2,900 compared with 2,335 during the first half of 1994-95. The sales turnover for the first six months of the current fiscal stood at Rs 139 crore, up from Rs 100 crore, reflecting an increase of 39 per cent. We are happy to see that the strong growth trend shown by Eicher in recent times is being sustained in the current year, said
Subodh Bhargava, chief executive, Eicher group. In 1994-95, EML volumes grew by 44 per cent in 1995-96 while the sales volume grew by 21 per cent. The first-half performance is particularly satisfying considering that the commercial vehicle industry grew by 12.5 per cent in the first six months, and the six-tonne LCV segment in the country grew by only 6.5 per cent. We have been able to consolidate our market share and position in the LCV industry, he said.
The strong growth in sales is partly on account of product variants introduced in the market. Eicher Motors, whose product range includes trucks, buses and special utility vehicles is a part of the Eicher group. It now plans to double the capacity of its plant at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh to produce 12,000 LCVs per annum.
