Hc Curbs On Schweppes Supplies

BSCAL

The Punjab and Chandigarh High Court has restrained Cadbury Schweppes from supplying its concentrates and extract for all its soft drinks brands to Skipper Beverages of Hansi.

The High Court has passed its order in an appeal filed by Satwant Singh who is fighting a battle of control over Pure Drinks (New Delhi) with estranged brother Ajit Singh. Satwant Singh had filed his appeal in the Chandigarh High Court in response to the District Judge of Hissar's decision to vacate its earlier stay which had passed similar restraining orders on Skipper and Cadbury.

The district court had vacated the stay after hearing Cadbury Schweppes response. However, in its ruling, the high court judge has stated that since the district court is yet to come out with its final order in the matter, "It shall, however, be open for the District Judge, while disposing of the application to consider independently all the prayers of the plaintiffs (Satwant Singh and Pure Drinks) and to grant one or all or not to grant any of them."

The high court, in its order, also directed the district judge to dispose of the matter urgently.
