Hotels Body Laments Lack Of Rooms

Last year, the country attracted two million tourists. India lacks infrastructure and trained manpower, said Jehangir Cama, president of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) at a press conference on Tuesday.

The federation is an apex body of all regional hotel and restaurant associations.

There is need for a threefold increase in institutes offering diploma courses in hotels from the present 16. FHRAI has recently acquired land at New Delhi for setting up such an institute.

Workshops were being held under the federation's aegis all over the country since February, 1996 to train the supervisory staff of hotels. Dubbed Training the Trainers, 54 such workshops would be held by June ,1997.

 

The 32nd Annual All India Hotel & Restaurant Convention would be held from November 27 to 30, this year at Pune.

A number of delegates from leading hotels and restaurants all over the world are expected to attend the meet.
