Indian Business Team To Visit Japan Next Week

An Indian business delegation is arriving here next week to meet Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto and other senior ministers and discuss ways to upgrade Indo-Japan economic cooperation.

The delegation, led by N Kumar, president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will include ten other business leaders. It will call on Hashimoto on June 9 and the following day it is likely to meet the minister for international trade and industry (MITI) and Japanese finance minister.

The Indian business leaders will have a day-long meetings with their counterparts in the Federation of Japanese Economic Organisation (Keidanren) whose chairman Shoichiro Toyoda earlier this year had led a Japanese business delegation to India.

The Dankuni Coal Complex (DCC) will soon introduce an innovative product portfolio to improve its financial base. This was recently discussed between the management of the DCC and deputy comptroller & auditor general of India and chairman, Audit Board, Samir Gupta.

Gupta last week inaugurated the mechanised coal charging system of retort at the DCC, a unit of South Eastern Coalfields Ltd ).

Tech exhibition in Beijing from today

An Indian industrial and technological exhibition begins here today. It will be the countrys first exibition in China in 40 years.

The exhibition is being sponsored by the Wistex Foundation of India and the Chinese Science and Technology Exchange Centre. Foundation chairman Y L Arora said at a news conference here on Thursday that commerce, industry, telecommunications departments and non-government organisations will participate in the exhibition.

The show will introduce Indian technology and pharmaceuticals, computer software, chemicals, automobile parts, accessories, and other products, Arora said.

He said the exhibition will be a good chance for improving relations between the two countries in science, technology, trade and industry.
