Institute Set Up To Boost Steel Use

The ministry of steel has set up an institute to promote the development and growth of steel in the country.

Dilip Ray, minister of steel, yesterday said that steel, owing to its cost advantage, strength and reparability has made it popular in construction work. Ray, who was speaking at the release function of a book, "Steel in Construction" compiled by the Joint Plant Committee, also outlined the government programes to give boost to the steel intensive construction sector.

According to the Development Commissioner for Iron and Steel R K Prasannan the steel institute aims "to work in unison with all the stake holders so as to evolve ways and means for efficient and effective use of steel and also to provide optimum value to the customers".
