Massacre Of Dalits A Conspiracy

THE HINDUSTAN TIMES

The Kambalapalli tragedy, in which seven Dalits were burnt alive on March 11, could have been avoided if the police had not withdrawn the additional force deployed in the village, Mr Dileep Singh Bhuria, the chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, said.

Mr Bhuria, who is just back from a visit to the village, hinted at a conspiracy behind the withdrawal of the police force. Suspecting that the death of Dalits may not be accidental, Mr Bhuria wants responsibility to be fixed on those responsible for withdrawing the police force.Mr Bhuria, who was accompanied by Union Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution V Srinivasa Prasad, inspected the houses which were burnt down and spoke to people of all communities. He also held discussions with the state Karnataka's Chief Secretary, the DGP and the Home Secretary.
