Ministry To Suggest Steel For Mrts

The Union ministry of steel is all set to woo the Vijay Mallya group to consider steel for its Rs 14,000 crore mass rapid transit system.
A meeting is likely to be held in July. The ministry of steel will make a presentation on the life cycle analysis of steel.
Another meeting between steel minister Dilip Ray and railway minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to take place in June. Southern Railway plans to reconstruct 203 railway bridges. Of these, work on 15 will start shortly.

In the UK, more than 90 per cent of single storey buildings are steel framed. The consumption of steel in the construction sector in India is around 40 per cent, whereas in other countries it is around 60 to 70 per cent.
