New Electronic Tech

The Electronics Research & Development Centre (ERDC) here developed 17 new technologies during 1996-97, with 70 per cent of its funding from the industry. Addressing a press conference here yesterday, its director, V P Kulkarni, said funding by the industry in the previous year was only 50 per cent. The centre had to depend on the Union government for the remaining amount. The budgetary allocation for electronics had to be increased, if the country was to keep pace with the advanced countries, he said.
