Plan Panel Sets Up 11-Member Taskforce

THE PLANNING Commission has constituted a 11-member task force for India!s development as a knowledge society. This task force has been constituted to implement the Prime Minister's 5 point agenda for making India a knowledge super power.

Planning Commission deputy chairman KC Pant has been appointed chairman of the task force, while K Venkatasubramanian, member of the Planning

Commission, will be the member convener.

The task force will assess the current status of knowledge hi the society and suggest strategies and a plan of action for a new education system for the 21st century to make India a super knowledge nation, says an official release. The terms of reference of the task force also include leveraging of existing competencies in Information technology, telecorn, biotechnology,

 

drug design and financial services.

Global networking, education for developing a learning society, vibrant-industry-acaderiiia interaction in policy making and implementation, economic and business strategic alliance built on capabilities and opportunities and setting up the education development finance corporation for the needy and deserving students will also be considered by the task force.
