Pradeep Wig Denies Calling Hll A Cheat

Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) and Brooke Bond Lipton India Ltd (BBLIL) had both sued Wig, claiming Rs 100 crore in damages.

The suit was made on the ground that Wig in a recent interview made certain defamatory statements against HLL and described them as cheater.

Counsel for Wig said in the court of Justice Barin Ghosh that he had no intention of releasing such a statement to the press.

Counsel referred to a letter of Wig written to DSJ Communications, publisher of the magazine where it was stated that before publishing the interview in the magazine, the text of it should be shown to him(Wig).

 

Justice Ghosh directed Wig to file his affidavit in the matter by September 27 and fixed October 7 as the date of hearing.

HLL also sued DSJ Communications, publisher of Dalal Street Journal (where the interview was published), its chief editor, editor and the reporter who had conducted the interview.

After Wig had cancelled his year long strategic alliance with HLL and BBLIL for selling Kwality Ice cream, he was involved in a legal battle with HLL and BBLIL for the ownership of Kwality brand.
