Reliance 2000 Draws Rs 28.84 Crore

Corporate debentures saw a surge in trading volumes yesterday with trades touching Rs 45.17 crore. The most actively traded debenture was the 14 per cent Reliance 2000 which witnessed trading volumes of Rs 28.84 crore.

The 16.5 per cent Whirlpool Ltd 1998 was transacted for Rs 13.01 crore, while the 20 per cent GE Capital Ltd 1997 was traded for Rs 3.06 crore.

The debt market witnessed trades worth Rs 246.31 crore during the day with the 13.7 per cent 1999 government loan trading for Rs 30 crore at 12.51 per cent.

The 14 per cent 2006 government loan was traded at 13.48 per cent, while the 364-day treasury bill maturing on September 26, 1997 was transacted for Rs 21 crore at 9.6 per cent.

 

The 9 per cent tax-free Hudco bonds maturing in 2000 and 2002 were traded at 13.89 per cent and 13.71 per cent respectively.

The inter bank call rate opened in the region of 4.25 to 5 per cent and closed in the range of 6 to 6.5 per cent.

There were too many buyers and very few sellers during the day. However, calls should be easy during the next trading session with rates ruling in the region of 4 to 5 per cent.
