The index-based scrips namely ACC, ITC, Reliance Industries, the State Bank of India and Tisco were sluggish with speculators in no mood to widen their holdings.

While ACC lost Rs 15 and settled at Rs 1,675, Reliance closed at Rs 189.50, ITC gained Rs 2 and closed at Rs 321 and Tisco by Re 1 to settle at Rs 173.

The SBI stock opened at Rs 210 and going down briefly to Rs 209.50 before closing at Rs 212. Gujarat Narmada Fertilisers, Kesoram Industries and L&T in the specified list moved up marginally, while HLL and Telco were losers.
