Dell launches EqualLogic PS 5000 series

"Networked storage has been too complex for too long. Dell EqualLogic helps solve that problem," Pallab Talukdar, director (enterprise solutions group), Dell India, told mediapersons here today. Dell had acquired EqualLogic, a data solutions provider based out of New Hampshire, for $1.4 billion in 2007.

"The product is virtualised, consolidated storage that is self-managing, affordable and easy to use. We are automating complex tasks, enabling fast and flexible provisioning while seamlessly integrating into the existing IT network. That's simplifying IT and this is the future of storage," he said, adding the company was looking at cutting across all sectors including manufacturing, media and government with the product.

 

According to IDC, shipments of iSCSI-based storage solutions globally will increase 138 per cent annually over the next five years. Data storage is predicted to grow from 161 exabits in 2006 to 988 exabits by 2010.
