Rajan Raheja-owned digital cable services provider Hathway has selected NDS XTV digital video recorder (DVR) technology to launch the country's first cable DVR.

The new XTV DVR solution will enable viewers to record one program while playing another or record both simultaneously, a release said today.

It added the new solution will allow subscribers to pause, record, play-back, rewind and fast-forward their broadcast cable TV channels for viewing, when they choose.

The NDS XTV DVR solution will be deployed this year and will give subscribers ultimate control over what they watch and when they watch it, the release added.

"The launch of NDS' XTV DVR services is a part of our ongoing strategy to offer consumers in India the very best pay television services in the market," said Hathway's Managing Director and CEO K Jayaraman.

In partnership with NDS, Hathway will deliver a compelling combination of broadcast and on-demand digital television to Indian cable subscribers.

"With NDS's support, Hathway is building digital infrastructure of the highest quality to offer a superior television viewing experience to Indian households," the release added.

NDS is a leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, supplying open end-to-end digital technology and services to digital pay-television platform operators and content providers.
