NetXcell in deal with US firm for text alerts

Hyderabad-based NetXcell Limited, a telecom applications provider, has signed an MoU with US-based Lifestyle Wireless Inc, a startup company positioned to tap retail mobile content market in its country, for providing support services for the same.
 
As part of the agreement, NetXcell will host a daily text alert service for content in up to 30 categories and will provide web access to subscription data, usage reports and customer service, according to Debasis Chatterji, director (operations), NetXcell.
 
Both the companies would work together on a revenue-sharing model, details of which were not disclosed.
 
Eric Lofdahl, chief technology officer, Lifestyle Wireless, said the company was poised to launch prepaid cards for various customise text alert messages for mobile phone users in the US during Christmas eve.
 
He said the company has already entered into an understanding with one of the country's largest retail chains for marketing these prepaid cards.
 
NetXcell currently provides application services to Airtel and Idea, covering about 70 million subscribers. It earned revenues of Rs 3 crore from its operations last year.
