NIIT plans 50 centres this year

NIIT, a player in the IT training space, plans to add around 50 centres across the country this year. This expansion will involve an investment of up to Rs 30 crore.
 
Addressing the media, Tulika Sinha, vice-president of NIIT Limited, said, "We trained 1,50,000 students in the last financial year. This year, we plan to double the total student intake."
 
NIIT has 500-odd training centres across the country and according to Sinha, plans to add 40-50 centres this year. "Based on the location, each centre will involve an investment of Rs 35 lakh-Rs 60 lakh. While some of the new centres will be set up by us, others will be via our business partners," she added.
 
In Andhra Pradesh, NIIT has already set up eight such centres and intends to up that number to 14 this year. The cities where NIIT is looking at establishing its presence in Andhra Pradesh include Warangal, Nalgonda, Khammam, Karimnagar, Vijayawada and Guntur. A centre in Anantapur is also on the cards but later.
 
"Last year, we placed 27,000 students in the IT industry and our goal is to increase that number to 50,000 this year," she said.
 
Sinha was here for the inauguration of NIIT's training centre at Secunderabad that can accommodate thousand learners in a week.
 
NIIT also has alliances with 40 engineering colleges across the country, including eight in Andhra Pradesh. By the end of this year, the company plans to increase its total alliances in Andhra Pradesh to 25.
 
NIIT offers learning and knowledge solutions across 30 countries worldwide. Sinha said that they had further international plans but declined to divulge the details.
