Sun Micro extends 'Matching Grant' scheme

Sun Microsystems is extending into the present year its 'buy one get one free' programme called 'Matching Grant' which was introduced in India last year. Institutions which availed of the grant last year can go through the programme this year again.
 
Mohan Doss, regional director - educational & research, Asia South, Sun Microsystems India said, 'Matching Grant' was a co-investment programme under which educational institutions will be able to purchase select items at standard education prices and the second identical unit will be given free.
 
This scheme is also offered in China, South America and Brazil. Over 40 educational institutions have availed of Matching Grant, under which the company has invested nearly Rs 4 crore.
 
"This year, we are expecting the involvement of at least a similar number of educational institutions," K P Unnikrishnan, marketing officer, Sun Microsystems India said.
 
Some of the major educational institutions who had gone for the Matching Grant programme in India last year include Delhi University, JNU, VTU, BITS and IISc, according to the company.
