Royal Challengers Bengaluru finished with 175/8 in their 20 overs against Delhi Capitals, a total that looked competitive but slightly below par considering the strong platform they had early on. After being asked to bat first, RCB started brightly, thanks largely to Phil Salt’s fluent strokeplay at the top. The English opener played a commanding knock of 63 off 38 deliveries, mixing timing with power to keep the scoring rate healthy through the powerplay and beyond.

 

Salt found support briefly, but the rest of the top order failed to convert their starts into substantial contributions. As wickets began to fall at regular intervals, RCB lost momentum during the middle overs. The lack of partnerships hurt their chances of pushing towards a bigger total, with the middle and lower order unable to provide the late surge the team would have hoped for.

 

 

Delhi Capitals deserve credit for pulling things back with a disciplined and well-rounded bowling performance. Captain Axar Patel led by example, keeping things tight and chipping in with key wickets. Kuldeep Yadav was effective in the middle overs, using his variations to disrupt the flow of runs, while Lungi Ngidi struck at crucial moments to dent RCB’s progress.

 

Despite a solid foundation laid by Salt, RCB were unable to fully capitalize, finishing with a total that gives their bowlers something to defend, but also leaves the door open for DC in the chase.

Chinnaswamy is obviously a good chasing ground. Same XI. (On having a long break) It's good to have that break after losing a couple of games.
