Trump warns of moving World Cup games from Boston though FIFA chooses sites

President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened to relocate World Cup matches set to be played next year in Boston, parts of which he had suggested had been "taken over" by recent unrest. The city is set to host seven matches as the US co-hosts the 2026 World Cup with Mexico and Canada. Trump was asked about the city's mayor, Michelle Wu, a Democrat whom he called "intelligent" but "radical left". "We could take them away," Trump said of the games. "I love the people of Boston and I know the games are sold out. But your mayor is not good." He suggested "they are taking over parts of Boston" without offering details, but added "we could get them back in about two seconds". Wu's office did not respond to a message seeking comment. Trump's comments came during his meeting with Argentina's president and it was not immediately clear what he was referring to. Earlier this month, however, there were multiple arrests in connection with a pro-Palestinian protest that turned violent on the Bos

US strikes another boat carrying drugs off Venezuela, killing 6: Trump

President Donald Trump says the US struck another small boat that he accused of carrying drugs in the waters off Venezuela. The Republican president said Tuesday in a post on social media that six people aboard the vessel were killed in the strike and no US forces were harmed. It's the fifth deadly strike in the Caribbean as the Trump administration has asserted that it is treating alleged drug traffickers as unlawful combatants who must be met with military force. Frustration with the administration has been growing on Capitol Hill among members of both parties. Some Republicans are seeking more information from the White House on the legal justification and details of the strikes. Democrats contend the strikes violate US and international law.

Trump to welcome Argentina's President Milei as US extends $20 bn lifeline

Argentina's libertarian leader is lavishing praise on Donald Trump ahead of his first White House meeting with the US president on Tuesday. It's a tactic that has helped transform President Javier Milei's cash-strapped country into one of the Trump administration's closest allies. The effusive declarations are nothing new for Milei whose dramatic cuts to state spending and attacks on woke leftists have won him a following among US conservatives. Your commitment to life, freedom and peace has restored hope to the world, Milei wrote on social media Monday, congratulating the US president on securing a ceasefire deal in Gaza, where a truce is holding after a devastating, two-year Israel-Hamas war. It is an honour to consider you not only an ally in the defence of those values, but also a dear friend and an example of leadership that inspires all those who believe in freedom, he said. The Trump-Milei bromance has already paid off for Argentina most recently, to the tune of a USD 20 .
