Ahmedabad East LS seat Cong candidate Rohan Gupta withdraws from poll fray

Congress candidate from Gujarat's Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha seat Rohan Gupta has said he has withdrawn from the contest due to his father's serious medical condition. Gupta is the Congress' national spokesperson and his name was in the list of candidates declared by the party on March 12. "Due to serious medical condition, my father is admitted in hospital and I am withdrawing my candidature for Ahmedabad east parliament seat as Congress Candidate. I will extend complete support to the new candidate nominated by party," Gupta said in a post on X on Monday. He also posted an image of his handwritten letter to Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil, informing about his decision to withdraw from the poll fray. All 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat will witness polling in a single phase on May 7 and vote counting will be held on June 4. The Congress is yet to declare candidates for 19 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared 22 candidates in the state so far.

PM Modi unveils India's 1st auto in-plant railway siding project of MSIL

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated India's first automobile in-plant railway siding project of Maruti Suzuki (MSIL) at its plant at Hansalpur in Gujarat's Mehsana district virtually from a function here. PM Modi, who visited Gujarat on Tuesday, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of Rs 85,000 crore railway projects, including the launch of 10 new Vande Bharat trains, from Sabarmati area of Ahmedabad in Gujarat after visiting the Dedicated Freight Corridor's (DFC) Operation Control Centre here. The MSIL's in-plant railway siding project was also inaugurated during the event. UP to get 5 more airports: Scindia after flagging off Ayodhya-A'bad flight

Uttar Pradesh will have five more airports in the next one month that will take the total number of airports in the state to 19, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Thursday as he flagged off direct flight from Ayodhya to Ahmedabad. The Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30. Scindia said that five new airports will be inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh in one month. 100% land acquisition completed for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train: NHSRCL

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) on Monday said it has completed 100 per cent land acquisition for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Rail Corridor, popularly known as the bullet train project, across Gujarat, Maharashtra and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also shared the status of land acquisition on X, saying the entire 1389.49 hectares of land required for the project has been acquired. The high-speed rail line is being built between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The NHSRCL, in a release, said that all civil contracts for the project were awarded for Gujarat and Maharashtra, while 120.4 km of girders had been launched and 271 km of pier casting completed. "The laying of the first reinforced concrete (RC) track bed for the MAHSR corridor track system, as used in Japanese Shinkansen, has started in Surat and Anand. PMO imposter case: CBI files charge sheet against Ahmedabad-based person

The CBI has filed a charge sheet against Ahmedabad-based Maayank Tiwari who allegedly posed as a high-ranking official of the Prime Minister's Office to force an eye hospital chain to forfeit more than Rs 16 crore owed to it by an Indore-based hospital under a legal dispute, according to officials. After a nearly three-month-long probe, the CBI filed the first charge sheet in the case in a special CBI court here. In October, the agency had carried out searches at several locations, including Ahmedabad and Indore, during which a number of documents were seized. Tiwari had allegedly called and sent messages from his mobile phone, asking the promoters of Dr Agarwal's - a chain of eye hospitals - to settle a dispute with the hospital in Indore, which allegedly had to return Rs 16 crore to the hospital chain, according to the charge sheet. Zydus Lifesciences gets six observations from USFDA for API plant

Zydus Lifesciences on Friday said the US health regulator has issued six observations after inspecting its active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) site in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) conducted the inspection from December 14 to December 22, 2023. The inspection closed with six observations, Zydus Lifesciences said in a regulatory filing. There were no data integrity related observations, it added. Besides, there are no repeat observations from the previous inspection, it noted. There are four drug master files (DMFs) from the site under approval with the USFDA, the drugmaker said. The company will closely work with the USFDA to address the observations, it added.

RBZ Jewellers IPO to open on Tuesday with price set at Rs 95-100 per share

RBZ Jewellers on Monday said it has fixed a price band of Rs 95-100 per share for its initial share sale that will open for public subscription on December 19. The three-day Initial Public Offering (IPO) will conclude on December 21, the company said in a statement. The IPO is entirely a fresh issue of 1 crore equity shares with no offer for sale (OFS) component. The Ahmedabad-based B2B and retail jewellery firm would raise Rs 100 crore through the issue at the upper end of the price band. Chip maker Micron Technology's decision to set up a $2.75-billion plant at Sanand near Ahmedabad indicates that Gujarat's dedicated semiconductor policy is bearing fruit and attracting global players, the state government has said. Gujarat had in July last year announced a dedicated policy to draw new investments in the semiconductor sector by offering incentives and subsidies to start operations in the state. The Gujarat Semiconductor Policy', unveiled by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, will remain in force till 2027.
