BPO firm Firstsource Solutions Monday posted a 5.8 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 98.2 crore for the quarter ended March 2019. The company's net profit stood at Rs 92.8 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Firstsource said in a statement. Its revenue from operations grew 10.6 per cent to Rs 964.2 crore in the reported quarter from Rs 871.3 crore in the corresponding period of the last year, it added. The company's board has recommended a dividend of Rs 2 per share for the financial year ended March 2019. "FY2018-19 has been a good year with growth in revenues and improved profitability. Our digital revenues are scaling up well and helping drive higher level of customer engagement and margin expansion," RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group and Firstsource Solutions Chairman Sanjiv Goenka said. Drug firm Morepen Laboratories Monday reported a 54 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 10.49 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2019, as the company also cleared all its loans to become debt free. The firm had posted a net profit after minority interest of Rs 6.81 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Morepen Laboratories said in a filing to BSE. Consolidated total revenue of the company also rose to Rs 219.74 crore for the quarter under consideration as against Rs 171.75 crore for the same period a year ago. For the fiscal year ended March this year, the company posted a net profit of Rs 28.84 crore as against Rs 29.59 crore for the previous fiscal year. China's top trade envoy is preparing to travel to the US for crucial talks, a senior Chinese official said Monday despite President Donald Trump's surprise announcement, threatening to impose more punishing taxes on USD 200 billion worth of Chinese products due to slow progress in negotiations. The brief statement from Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang came as media reports said China is considering to cancel the high-level trade talks with the US, leading to tumbling of shares and oil prices across the Asian markets amid worries that the two major economic giants were once again on the path of confrontation. Morepen Laboratories Ltd. has reported a steep 125 per cent rise in its net profit (Standalone) at Rs 9.22 crore and 31 per cent rise in its total revenue (Standalone) at Rs 207.10 crore in fourth quarter (Q4) of the financial year 2018-19. The company's net profit was at Rs 4.11 crore on total revenue of Rs 158.34 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal.The consolidated total revenue in Q4 FY 2018-19 went up by 28 per cent at Rs 219.74 crore. Export sales revenue in Q4 FY 2018-19 was up by 51 per cent at Rs 96.41 crore and domestic sales revenue up by 13 per cent at Rs 118.84 crore. Silver prices were trading lower by Rs 118 at Rs 37,273 per kg in futures trade Monday after speculators reduced their exposure amid a weak trend at the domestic markets. Silver contracts for delivery in July fell by Rs 118, or 0.32 per cent, to trade at Rs 37,273 per kg in a business turnover of 23,827 lots on the Multi Commodity Exchange. Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month September shed Rs 96, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 37,833 per kg with a business turnover of 404 lots. In the international market, however, silver rose 0.54 per cent to USD 14.92 an ounce in Singapore.

Nickel prices fell by 1.43 per cent to Rs 835 per kg in futures trade Monday as speculators cut down their positions, taking negative cues from spot market on muted demand from consuming industries. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in May fell by Rs 12.10, or 1.43 per cent, to Rs 835 per kg in a business turnover of 12,775 lots. Similarly, the metal for June delivery traded lower by Rs 12.80, or 1.46 per cent, to Rs 861 per kg in 253 lots. Market analysts said offloading of positions by participants, following the fall in demand from alloy makers, influenced nickel prices at futures trade here.
