Reversing its initial recovery, the benchmark BSE Sensex slipped into the negative terrain in afternoon trade Thursday amid concerns over the tension between India and Pakistan and weak Asian cues. After bouncing over 180 points in early trade, the Sensex was trading 56.04 points, or 0.16 per cent, down at 35,849.39. The gauge has lost 308 points in the previous two sessions. The 50-share Nifty also fell 16.80 points, or 0.16 per cent, to 10,789.85 after moving between 10,865.70 and 10,788.10 on alternate bouts of buying and selling. Investors adopted a cautious approach and kept their activity at a low ebb in the wake of tension between India and Pakistan, brokers said. Hughes Communications India (HCIL) Thursday said it has received Flight and Maritime Connectivity licence from the government, that authorises it to offer high-quality broadband services in ships and aircraft, within Indian territory. With this, HCIL becomes the first company to be granted the Flight and Maritime Connectivity (FMC) licence in India by the telecom department, after the government notified rules for in-flight, maritime mobile phone services in December last year. HCIL is a majority-owned subsidiary of broadband network and services provider Hughes Network Systems. "The first company to be granted the FMC licence in India, HCIL is now authorised to provide in-flight connectivity and high-quality broadband services to Indian and foreign airlines and shipping companies operating within Indian territory," HCIL said in a statement. Shares of Jet Airways fell by over 6 per cent Thursday after the company said seven more aircraft have been grounded due to non-payment of lease rentals. Shares of the company dropped 6.15 per cent to Rs 211 on BSE. On NSE, the shares slumped 6.30 per cent to Rs 210.15. So far this month, as many as 13 planes of the company have been grounded on account of non-payment of rentals to lessors. In a filing to the stock exchanges Wednesday, the full-service airline said "an additional seven aircraft have been grounded due to non-payment of amounts outstanding to lessors under their respective lease agreements". Faced with acute financial woes, the airline is looking to restructure its debt as well as raise funds. On February 23, the airline said two planes had been grounded. This followed an announcement made to stock exchanges on February 7 that it had grounded four of its aircraft on account of non-payment of lease rentals.

The Delhi High Court Thursday dismissed National Herald publisher AJL's plea challenging a single judge order to vacate its premises at ITO here. A bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V K Rao rejected the appeal of Associated Journals Ltd (AJL) in which it had challenged the Centre's decision asking it to vacate the ITO premises. "We have dismissed the appeal," the bench said. It also rejected the oral request of AJL's counsel that they be granted two week's time to vacate the premises. AJL had appealed against the single judge's December 21, 2018 order that directed it to vacate the premises at ITO within two weeks, after which eviction proceedings under the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1971, would be initiated. The single judge had also said that by transfer of AJL's 99 per cent shares to Young India (YI), the beneficial interest of AJL's property worth Rs 413.40 crore stands "clandestinely" transferred to YI.
