HP partners with Google to make Chromebooks in India from next month

PC maker HP has joined hands with Google to manufacture Chromebooks in India from October 2, the company said on Thursday. The Chromebook devices will be manufactured at the Flex Facility near Chennai, where HP has been producing a range of laptops and desktops since August 2020, it said in a statement. "Manufacturing Chromebook laptops in India will allow Indian students to get easy access to affordable PCs. By further expanding our manufacturing operations, we continue to support the Make in India initiative of the government," HP India, Senior Director - Personal Systems, Vickram Bedi said. HP is one of the applicants under the government's Rs 17,000 crore production linked incentive scheme for IT hardware. Unitech case: ED provisionally attaches land worth over Rs 125 crore

The Enforcement Directorate has provisionally attached land worth Rs 125.06 crore belonging to Unitech Infopark Limited in connection with its probe into money laundering allegations arising out of complaints from home buyers of the Unitech group, officials said Monday. The ED has provisionally attached 39.83 per cent share of 4.79 acres of land that forms part of the Uniworld City township at Nallambakkam in Chennai. "The value of the land attached is Rs 125.06 crore. The said land is owned by Unitech Infopark Limited in which 39.83 per cent shares are held by Narnil Infosolutions Private Limited (a benami company of the Chandras, the promoters of Unitech Group)," the ED said in a statement. The action is part of an investigation undertaken by the ED based on cases registered by the Delhi Police and CBI on the complaints from home buyers against Unitech Group, its promoters and others, it said. Celebi India starts ground handling at Chennai International Airport

Turkish aviation services firm Celebi India said on Monday it has started providing ground handling services at Chennai International Airport. With this, the company is offering its services at nine airports in the country. Celebi India will be providing comprehensive ground handling services to both scheduled and non-scheduled air operators at domestic as well as international terminals of the facility, it said. Airlines have already started entering into ground handling service contracts with the company, with US-Bangla Airlines and YTO Cargo signing a pact for carrying out such activities on their behalf, Celebi said. Chennai-based Saas company Zoho says it surpassed 100 mn users globally

Chennai-headquartered SaaS company Zoho said it has surpassed 10 crore users globally. Zoho has become the first bootstrapped SaaS company to reach the milestone, the firm said in a statement. The company had crossed USD 1 billion in annual revenue in 2022. Zoho said it has witnessed a 3-year Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 65 per cent in the upmarket segment in India. Shriram Properties, ASK Property Fund to jointly invest in Chennai project

Realty firm Shriram Properties Ltd (SPL) and ASK Property Fund on Wednesday announced a joint investment of Rs 206 crore in a residential project in Chennai. The joint investment is "towards 100 per cent of development rights in an ongoing project in Chennai, through SPL's wholly owned subsidiary Shrivision Elevations Pvt Ltd." The project acquisition formalities were completed and is being launched as "Shriram 122 West" shortly. With a total saleable area of 1.9 million square feet spread across two phases, the project has an aggregate revenue potential of Rs 1,200 crore in the next 5 years. The project comprises of around 1,900 residential units, predominantly targeting the mid-income group.

Casagrand to invest Rs 8,000 cr to develop projects in Maha over next 3 yrs

Chennai-based Casagrand on Monday said it plans to invest Rs 8,000 crore to develop realty projects in Maharashtra over the next three years. The company said it plans to develop 20 million square feet in Mumbai and Pune as part of its expansion plan. It, however, did not share any specific detail on the plans. The announcement comes close on the heels of Bengaluru-based Prestige Group entering the Mumbai real estate market by launching or announcing projects. The nearly two-decade-old company claimed it is among South India's top three builders, and has initiated an aggressive expansion plan. The company is set to deliver over 140 projects and 40,000 homes in Chennai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Hyderabad in 2023, according to a statement. TN govt launches India's first-ever night street racing circuit in Chennai

A new street circuit, which will also hold night races, was launched by the Tamil Nadu government and RRPL here on Wednesday. The state government has partnered with Racing Promotions Private Limited (RRPL) for the project. RRPL is also the promoter of the Indian Racing League and F4 Indian Championship. Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, launched the circuit. As for the track, it is a 3.5km layout, located around the Island Grounds that resides in the heart of the city. Also, it would become the first-ever street circuit in India and South Asia that will be hosting a night race. The track would be stretched across the Island Grounds, Victory War Memorial and the Napier Bridge with elevation changes, along with the view of the Marina Beach Road and the Bay of Bengal.
