Cong targeting Savarkar to move attention away from MUDA scam: K'taka BJP

Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra on Friday accused the Congress government of targeting Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar just to divert public attention from the MUDA 'scam'. Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao claimed on Wednesday that Savarkar used to eat meat and was not against cow slaughter. In an online post, Vijayendra said: "This is a betrayal of our national heroes! The Congress government, driven by its greed for power, has shamefully targeted Veer Savarkar - a patriot who dedicated his life to India's freedom - just to divert public attention from their corruption in the #MUDAScam. This desperate ploy to mislead the public is unacceptable." He further said that the BJP will fight until the "corrupt leaders" of Congress are held accountable. "It's not just an attack on Savarkar, but an insult to every Indian who values our nation's sacrifices. As Vir Savarkar himself said, 'Independence is never given, it is always taken.' No lies or distractions w

'People responsible for China's influence in Indian industry defending it'

At a time when the entire world recognises that China is a non-transparent and opaque economy, some people, possibly responsible for its growing influence in the India industry, are choosing to continue to praise or defend the China story, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Thursday. Slamming the previous Congress-led government, he said it is a matter of "shame" that India allowed substandard and opaquely-priced Chinese goods to flood the Indian markets and kill Indian manufacturing. "As regards China, it is very sad that some people, possibly responsible for the growing influence of China in the India industry, are choosing to continue to praise or defend the China story, whereas the whole world today recognises that China is a non-transparent and opaque economy," Goyal told Indian journalists at a news conference here. He was responding to a question on recent remarks by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi during his US trip last month, alleging th

Cong stands for corruption, casteism, nepotism: PM Modi to Haryana voters

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Congress stands for the "guarantee of corruption, casteism, communalism and nepotism", as he urged the people in Haryana to vote the ruling BJP to power for a third straight term. In a message on X on the last day of campaigning in Haryana before the assembly polls on October 5, Modi blasted the Congress for its alleged divisive and negative politics which, he said, the patriotic people of the state will never accept. "The Congress means a syndicate of fixers and son-in-law," he said in an apparent reference to controversial land deals involving Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra when the party was in power during 2004-14 with Bhupinder Singh Hooda as the chief minister. The main goal of father-son politics is only self-interest, he said, clearly targeting Hooda and his MP son Deepender Singh Hooda. Modi also asserted that Congress leaders are involved in a factional fight. People know that the party can never ..

Drug haul kingpin is chairman of Delhi Youth Congress' RTI cell: BJP

The BJP alleged on Thursday that the kingpin arrested in the case of seizure of Rs 5,600 crore here is the chairman of the RTI cell of the Delhi Youth Congress. BJP spokesperson and MP Sudhanshu Trivedi slammed the Congress for its alleged links to drug dealers involved in destroying the country and sought explanation from the main opposition party. He questioned if the drug money was being used by the Congress in its campaign and whether the party's relationship with the alleged kingpin Tushar Goyal extended to business as well. Was there an arrangement between drug dealers and the Congress that they will be given a free run in Haryana, if the party comes to power, he asked. Trivedi claimed that Goyal not only had pictures with senior Congress leaders like K C Venugopal and Deepender Singh Hooda but also had the mobile number of Hooda. The Hooda family should explain, he said. He read from Goyal's appointment letter as the head of the Delhi Youth Congress's RTI cell, claiming th

The BJP termed the word "RR Tax" as "Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy Tax". "The Congress has given several guarantees in Himachal Pradesh. Now the situation is that it is not able to pay salaries to MLAs and government employees also. It is in a miserable state. Haryana polls: Setback to AAP after its Nilokheri candidate joins Congress

In a setback to AAP ahead of Saturday's Haryana Assembly polls, the party's Nilokheri (reserve) seat candidate Amar Singh joined the Congress on Wednesday. After joining the party, Singh said only Congress can defeat the BJP government which has been "unjust to farmers, women, Dalits, and minorities". He joined the Congress here in presence of Pratap Singh Bajwa, Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, the party said in a statement. Bajwa formally inducted Singh into the party, it added. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is part of the INDIA bloc, but is contesting the Haryana elections on its own after the talks between the Arvind Kejriwal outfit and Congress last month to forge an alliance for the state polls did not materialise. The fresh setback to the AAP in Haryana comes days after its Faridabad candidate Pravesh Mehta joined the ruling BJP on September 28. Mehta had joined the BJP in Faridabad in the presence of Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar, who is the BJP MP from Farida

Choose between development, destruction: Rajnath at Haryana rally

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Wednesday accused the Congress of not fulfilling its poll promises as he asked the people of Haryana not to be misled by the opposition and asserted the upcoming state election was about choosing between "development and destruction." Asserting the BJP fulfils its promises made to the people, he said the Centre provided Rs 78,000 crore for Haryana's development while Rs 21,564 crore was given to the state when the grand old party was in power. The Congress had given Rs 1,158 crore to farmers while the BJP gave Rs 13,276 crore in 10 years, Singh said at a public meeting in Haryana's Yamunanagar. Under the BJP's rule in the last 10 years, the youths in Haryana were given jobs only based on merit, he said, adding, "I can assure you that the youths will continue to get jobs without 'kharchi-parchi' (corruption and favouritism) when BJP returns to power." "The Congress made several promises. Had they implemented them even partially during their 50-55 years
