Maharashtra logs 2,203 new Covid cases, 3 deaths; active count at 13,665

Maharashtra on Thursday reported 2,203 new coronavirus positive cases and three fatalities, while its active caseload is 13,665, the state health department said. With this, the state's overall case tally jumped to 80,41,522, while the death toll rose to 1,48,091, it said in a report. On Wednesday, the state had reported 2,138 cases and eight deaths. Of the total number of fresh cases, Pune circle registered the highest count of 732, followed by Mumbai circle (518), Nagpur circle (376), Nashik circle (231), Akola circle (139), Latur circle (80) Kolhapur circle (79) and Aurangabad circle (48). One fatality each was recorded in Mumbai, Kolhapur and Akola circles, it said. So far, 78,79,766 patients have recuperated from the infection, of whom 2,478 recovered in the last 24 hours. Mumbai: Jumbo centres to be closed as Covid-19 cases dip, says BMC

Jumbo Covid Centers or field hospitals in Mumbai will be closed in phases as the number of coronavirus infections has decreased, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Wednesday. After the first phase of the pandemic, three jumbo care centres had been closed while the rest continued to function. The Somaiya jumbo centre in Sion area will be kept ready in case there is fresh necessity, the BMC said in a release. COVID-19 patients will be treated at the four main civic-run hospitals and 16 suburban hospitals besides the Kasturba hospital in Chinchpokli. Even after the closure of eight jumbo covid-19 centres, 11,165 beds will be available across hospitals in the city for COVID-19 patients and if necessary more beds can be added, the BMC said. Delhi records 1,066 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths; positivity rate at 6.91%

Delhi logged 1,066 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 6.91 per cent along with two fatalities, according to data shared by the health department here on Wednesday. This is the fifth consecutive day that the positivity rate has been recorded above five per cent. With the fresh infections, the infection tally in the national capital rose to 19,50,802, while the death toll mounted to 26,307. The number of tests conducted the previous day was 15,433. The number of active cases of the disease in Delhi now stands at 3,239, up from 2,862 the previous day. As many as 1,989 COVID-19 patients are under home isolation, the data added. Delhi reported 781 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 6.40 per cent along with two fatalities on Tuesday. Maharashtra logs 2,138 new Covid cases, 8 deaths; positivity rate at 5.15%

Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 2,138 new coronavirus infections and eight pandemic-related deaths, the state health department said. The tally of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 80,39,319 and death toll increased to 1,48,088. The state now has 13,943 active COVID-19 cases. A day before, Maharashtra had reported 2,135 new COVID-19 cases and 12 fatalities. Of new cases, Pune circle reported the highest 673, followed by Mumbai circle (508), Nagpur circle (434), Nashik circle (188), Akola circle (128), Kolhapur circle (89), Latur circle (71) and Aurangabad circle (47). A circle comprises four to six districts. Four patients died in Pune circle, two in Mumbai circle and one each in Akola and Kolhapur circles. With 2,279 patients recovering on Wednesday, the tally of recoveries rose to 78,77,288. South Korea reports 100,285 new Covid-19 cases; fatality rate at 0.13%

South Korea reported 100,285 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Tuesday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 19,446,946, the health authorities said on Wednesday.The daily caseload was up from 99,327 the previous day, and higher than 76,379 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).For the past week, the daily average number of confirmed cases was 72,735.Among the new cases, 532 were imported from overseas, lifting the total to 42,683.The number of infected people who were in serious condition stood at 177, up 9 from the previous day.Twenty-five more deaths were confirmed, taking the death toll to 24,932. The total fatality rate was 0.13 per cent.

Maharashtra: Thane sees 93 new cases of Covid-19; active tally at 895

As many as 93 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Maharashtra's Thane district, taking the tally to 7,33,636, a health official said on Wednesday.
