"'Just the way you walked in. Your arms straight down by your side, hanging not swinging.' He could just tell." Border had only confided about this to his former Dean Jones, who died of heart attack in 2020. "I'm a pretty private person and I didn't want people to feel sorry for me sort of thing," he said. "Whether people care you don't know. But I know there'll come a day when people will notice." "I get the feeling I'm a hell of a lot better off than most. At the moment, I'm not scared, not about the immediate future anyway. I'm 68. If I make 80

The big three -- India, England and Australia -- playing the bulk of Test cricket will eventually "kill the game" and the players of smaller boards like the West Indies must be paid better for international cricket to flourish, feels Chris Gayle. Gayle is best known for his exploits in T20 cricket but he is also a veteran of 103 Tests and 301 ODIs. Speaking to PTI, the 43-year-old said only three teams dominating the game can't be good for the game in the long run. "Over the years, cricket has changed quite a bit. It is a big business now. Lot of money being thrown around not just in T20 leagues but Test cricket as well. The bigger teams getting paid more than the smaller teams, leaving them at a disadvantage. "It needs to be structured, so that everyone can benefit. The disadvantaged and lower-ranked teams need to play more games to develop their skills. Infrastructure needs to be created for them and those players need to be paid well just like the big teams because everyone is .

India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who knows a thing or two about chess, says playing the sport at a competitive level has helped him to stay patient while dealing with challenges in his cricket career. Chahal, who has represented India in the World Youth Chess Championship, has joined SG Alpine Warriors as their ambassador in the ongoing Global Chess League. "My first jerseys came from playing chess, and the sport has taught me patience over the years. The process to elect the new Pakistan Cricket Board chairman might be delayed with two members of the former management committee approaching the Lahore High Court. The Lahore High Court will on Monday head two petitions filed by former PCB management committee members Shakil Sheikh and Gul Zada against the election process to bring in Zaka Ashraf as the chairman and the legality of the Board of Governors which will elect the new chief. The petitioners have requested the honourable judge to stay the elections of the chairman and suspend the BOG until it gives a verdict on their petitions. It is a tricky situation because the election commissioner and acting Chairman of the board has set June 27 as the date for holding election for new Chairman after the changes made to the Board of Governors, one source in the board said. Ironically, when Ashraf had become PCB chairman way back in 2012, he had faced similar legal challenges from his predecessor, Najam Sethi, and was even ordered to

The Wankhede Stadium will soon get a facelift with new set of LED floodlights set to be installed along with refurbished hospitality boxes ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup, scheduled in October-November this year. Along with one India game, there is a semi-final also slated to be held at the iconic ground. The Wankhede Stadium is among five venues shortlisted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that are earmarked to undergo renovation and upgrade work ahead of the World Cup, which is a little over three months away now. While the Indian board is yet to start the work, the idea behind inviting tenders to change the floodlights is to ensure that such big initiatives are completed with ease and are not left for a tighter deadline. As the home ground for five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians, the Wankhede Stadium had hosted seven league matches during IPL 2023 before work began in improving the outfield, which started as soon as the league round of the IPL ended.
