A fire erupted on a cargo ship docked at a port in Thailand, triggering a blast and leaving at least 25 workers suffering from smoke inhalation and other injuries, officials said Saturday. The district around Laem Chabang deep-sea port in Chonburi province, located two hours south of capital Bangkok, has been declared a "danger zone", said port director Yuthana Mokkhao. The fire broke out on Saturday at 6.35 am (23:35 GMT Friday) on the cargo ship named KMTC Hong Kong, which was moored to the port terminal. Photos circulated on Thai media showed thick smoke billowing from the freight ship as the fire blazed. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed on Saturday after a massive landslide hit Battery Chashma area in Ramban district following heavy overnight rainfall, officials said.Inspector General of Police (Traffic) Alok Kumar said the intermittent landslide and shooting stones have been hampering the debris clearance operation.The landslide caused a huge traffic jam on the stretch between Nashri and Ramban, leaving scores of commuters stranded.The debris clearance operation is being carried out by the state authorities with the help of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).The 300-kilometre long Jammu-Srinagar highway connects the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India.

A massive landslide hit the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district in the wee hours of Saturday, leading to suspension of traffic on the only road linking Kashmir with rest of the country, officials said. The landslide, triggered by incessant rains over the past two days, occurred near Battery Cheshma, completely blocking the 270-km arterial road, Suresh Sharma, Deputy Superintendent of Police (traffic), national highway Ramban, told PTI. The traffic on the highway plies from the twin capitals of Srinagar and Jammu alternatively due to the ongoing work on the four-laning project. Thousands of vehicles, which had left for Srinagar from here this morning, remain stranded on the highway following the closure of the road. Sharma said agencies concerned have pressed men and machinery to open the door. "Given the massive debris, the restoration work will take many hours. A fire broke out inside a godown due to short-circuit in Collectorganj area of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning.Five fire tenders were pressed into action, a fire official said.Six people including two children and an elderly woman were rescued from the building.No casualties were reported."Five people were on the third floor and one on the fourth floor of the building.
