Joe Biden tells Trump to 'get a life, man,' stop storm misinformation

President Joe Biden on Thursday publicly admonished Donald Trump, telling his predecessor to get a life, man and try to help people impacted by a pair of devastating hurricanes rather than spreading misinformation about the federal response. Speaking at the White House on the government's work to address Hurricanes Milton and Helene, Biden condemned the reckless, irresponsible and relentless disinformation and outright lies that continue to flow." The White House, and Biden personally, have spent days decrying Trump for making false claims about the disaster response, including that federal funding is being diverted for use on people in the country illegally and that such assistance is capped at USD 750. The USD 750 is an immediate need disbursement, Biden explained, to cover urgent requirements like food, diapers and baby formula That USD 750 that they're talking about, Mr. Trump and all those other people know it's a lie to suggest that's all they're going to get, Biden said. "It'

US inflation likely cooled again last month in sign of healthy economy

Donald Trump's contributions from small-dollar donors have plummeted since his last bid for the White House, presenting the former president with a financial challenge as he attempts to keep pace with Democrats' fundraising machine. Fewer than a third of the Republican's campaign contributions have come from donors who gave less than $200 - down from nearly half of all donations in his 2020 race, according to an analysis by The Associated Press and OpenSecrets, an organization that tracks political spending. The total collected from small donors has also declined, according to the analysis. Trump raised $98 million from such contributors through June, a 40% drop compared to the $165 million they contributed during a corresponding period in his previous presidential race. The dip has forced Trump to rely more on wealthy donors and groups backed by them, a shift that cuts into the populist message that first propelled him to the White House. The decline in donations could not come at

Biden condemns un-American lies on federal response as hurricane nears

President Joe Biden on Wednesday blasted his predecessor for spreading an onslaught of lies about how the federal government is handling the damage from Hurricane Helene as another hurricane, Milton, was on the verge of making landfall in Florida. Quite frankly, these lies are un-American, Biden said from the White House. Former President Trump has led this onslaught of lies. Biden said that Donald Trump and his allies have misrepresented the response and resources of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The president singled out Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R- Georgia, who claimed the federal government could control the weather. Asked why he believed his Republican opponents were not talking accurately about the government's response, Biden said, I don't know. I simply don't know. ... I use a phrase more than I did in my whole career, un-American. It's un-American. It's not who in the hell we are. The president talked about the potential damage from Hurricane Milton and ...

Trump slams China trade practices, gets 'God Bless US' Bibles printed there

Thousands of copies of Donald Trump's 'God Bless the USA' Bible were printed in a country that the former president has repeatedly accused of stealing American jobs and engaging in unfair trade practices China. Global trade records reviewed by The Associated Press show a printing company in China's eastern city of Hangzhou shipped close to 1,20,000 of the Bibles to the United States between early February and late March. The estimated value of the three separate shipments was USD 3,42,000, or less than USD 3 per Bible, according to databases that use customs data to track exports and imports. The minimum price for the Trump-backed Bible is USD 59.99, putting the potential sales revenue at about USD 7 million. The Trump Bible's connection to China, which has not been previously reported, reveals a deep divide between the former president's harsh anti-China rhetoric and his rush to cash in while campaigning. The Trump campaign did not respond to emails and calls seeking comment. Tr

Harris gets personal in media blitz, resists breaking with Biden's policy

Kamala Harris wanted to help voters get to know her better with a cascade of media appearances on Tuesday, but the most lasting impression might have been her unwillingness to break with Joe Biden. Asked on ABC's The View how she would be different from the president she's served under for four years, Harris said we're obviously two different people and I will bring those sensibilities to how I lead. However, she was not able to identify a decision where she would have gone another way. There is not a thing that comes to mind, Harris said. The exchange encapsulated Harris' struggle to portray herself as a candidate who can deliver the change voters crave while also remaining loyal to the current administration. Some Harris aides privately winced as gleeful Republicans swiftly circulated clips of her response and Donald Trump swiped at her in a social media post, calling it her dumbest answer so far. It wasn't until later in the show that Harris named something that she would do ...

Harris calls Trump irresponsibe for spreading falsehoods on Helene response

Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday called former President Donald Trump incredibly irresponsible for spreading falsehoods about the federal response to Hurricane Helene 's destruction, offering especially sharp words as a new storm bears down on Florida with just weeks until Election Day. "There's a lot of mis-and disinformation being pushed out there by the former president about what is available, particularly to the survivors of Helene, Harris told reporters before boarding Air Force Two to fly to New York. It's extraordinarily irresponsible. It's about him. It's not about you. Helene has killed more than 220 people in six states, and Category 5 Hurricane Milton is on a path toward Florida's Gulf Coast. Trump has made a series of false claims in the wake of Helene, including saying incorrectly that the federal government is intentionally withholding aid to Republican disaster victims. He also falsely claimed the Federal Emergency Management Agency had run out of money becaus

New analysis suggests debt could increase under Harris-Trump economic plans

No one is likely to be happy with the projected higher deficits laid out in a new analysis of Kamala Harris' and Donald Trump's economic plans. The analysis released Monday by the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget suggests a Harris presidency could increase the national debt over 10 years by $3.5 trillion. That's even though the vice president's campaign insists her proposed investments in the middle class and housing would be fully offset by higher taxes on corporations and the wealthy. Her campaign policy guide states that Harris is committed to fiscal responsibility - making investments that will support our economy, while paying for them and reducing the deficit at the same time. The same analysis says former President Trump's ideas could heap another $7.5 trillion onto the debt and possibly as much as $15.2 trillion. That's even though he suggests growth would be so strong under his watch that no one would need to worry about deficits. The 34-page report ..

Trump, with Elon Musk, addresses thousands at failed assassination bid site

Former US president Donald Trump on Saturday returned to Butler, a city in Pennsylvania where he narrowly escaped an assassination bid 12 weeks ago, and addressed thousands of his supporters in this key battleground state, urging them to elect him as the next president of the United States. Joined by high-profile figures like Tesla owner Elon Musk and his running mate, Senator J D Vance, Trump (78) made a passionate plea to "defeat" Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate in the November 5 presidential poll. "We must stop her country-destroying regime, radical-left agenda once and for all. We cannot have it happen. So you must get out and you must vote," Trump said in Pennsylvania, which in this election cycle has emerged as a must-win situation for both candidates. Trump launched a scathing attack on Harris and accused her of being a failure on multiple fronts, including border security and economy. "She imposed a natural gas export ban on Pennsylvania, which is ...
