The girl student, from Mancherial district was given '00', instead of 99 marks that she had scored in Telugu. "It is a blunder and hence the Board has taken action and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the examiner G Umadevi, while scrutiniser S Vijay Kumar (lecturer at a state-run junior college) has been suspended and an enquiry has been ordered," an official release issued late Sunday night said. Three schools will represent India in the world finale of the F1 in Schools challenge, an initiative in which students come up with miniature versions of racing cars and make them run on a 24-metre track. Each team had 3-6 members working on the best possible design for the minimum friction of the car and setting up their pit-booth. The F1 kits provided to the students are directed from the Formula One Headquarters in UK, the organisers said in a press release. Results of at least 1,428 students of high school and intermediate examinations of this district have been withheld for alleged irregularities, the authorities said Monday. During investigation, it was found that the students of class 10 and Class 12 had submitted fakes certificates and other related documents along with their examination forms, District Inspector of Schools Brijesh Kumar said. Two Pune school kids, Arush Dolas and Nivaan Khandadia, have created a flutter by clinching the gold and bronze medals respectively at the recently held World School Chess Championships at Antalya in Turkey. With podium finishes in the competition, both Dolas and Khandadia have now earned the title of being known as Candidate Master (CM), which is given by the world chess body FIDE, a media release said on Monday. Dolas, studying in the Bishop High School in Pune, won the U-7 open title category by scoring eight points in nine rounds. Khandadia, who is the youngest rated chess player from the Global Indian International School, settled for the third place with 6.5 points. The Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations (IPASE) would be held from May 25 to June 1, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) said Sunday. The tentative time table for therevised supplementary exam schedule, which were earlier scheduled from May 16 was released by the TSBIE after students and parents alleged "goof up" inthe declaration of results of Intermediate examinations and there were demands that they be postponed. While the Intermediate first year (class 11) exams would be held in forenoon session, the second year (class 12) exams would be held in the afternoon session, an official release said. The three-member committee of technical experts, appointed by the Telangana government following the furore over Intermediate examination results, pointed out certain lapses and suggested various measures for improvement, officials said Saturday. In its report, submitted to the government on Saturday, the committee pointed out mistakes (in publication of results) like not displaying practical exam marks in the memos of certain geography students, education secretary B Janardhan Reddy told reporters. "Because of bubbling error in some OMR sheets, correct marks were not awarded to very few students," he said. The errors did not significantly impact the results, he said, citing the committee's observations. The panel suggested measures like re-verifying the marks of a student who failed in the second year but had got good marks in first year, Reddy added. A court here on Saturday sentenced four persons to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old student in November 2016. District and Sessions Judge P K Mallik awarded the sentence to four persons, including the deceased's uncle after holding them guilty of kidnap, demanding ransom and murder. Saurav Kumar, the son of businessman Jai Choudhary, was kidnapped when he was on way to attend tuition class in Katihar on November 14, 2016. The kidnappers had demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom to release Saurav from their captivity and the deceased's father had agreed to pay Rs 30 lakh to get his son released. The police had later exhumed Saurav's body from Baghmara area in Manihari block of the district.
